  • Bendi and Drexel Forklifts FAQ

    Q

    What is a Drexel forklift?

Drexel forklifts are ideal for tight-space maneuverability, thanks to their versatile SwingMast, which lets drivers rotate the mast assembly to shift, pick, or place loads in very narrow aisles without needing to turn. In fact, the Drexel Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) forklift performs like a conventional counterbalanced forklift … while also operating as a reach truck, a side-loader, and turret truck. Drexel trucks are great for maximizing your storage space, knowing that your material handling equipment is capable of the tight turns necessary to make it all come together.

    Q

    What is a Bendi forklift?

Bendi forklifts are the perfect solution for congested manufacturing areas, with three-stage mast heights that let you achieve great lift heights — up to 41 feet — while also fitting through low doorways or onto highway trailers. Electric Narrow Aisle trucks give you high stacking ability and capacities range from 3,000 pounds to 5,500 pounds. Efficient battery usage let you increase run times between charges, too, so you can maximize your productivity.

Bendi also produces an internal combustion (IC) forklift with the same great quality as the electric model, but which can be refueled in just five minutes.

    Q

    What is a counterbalance forklift?

As you might expect, a counterbalance forklift utilizes a counterbalance in the back of the truck (such as a weight or even the battery) to offset the weight of the loads on the forks. This prevents tipping, damage, and accidents. Counterbalance forklifts are common sights in warehouses and loading bays, as they are great for handling pallets for shipping and receiving.

Counterbalance forklifts are available as stand-up and sit-down models (referring to the operator). Sit-down models are a good fit when there’s not a lot of on-and-off required, or when there’s low overhead clearance. Stand-up counterbalance forklifts can give the operator more room for maneuvering in tight spaces, such as warehouses, than sit-down models.

You can find counterbalance forklifts to handle a wide range of loads, typically up to 5,000 or 6,000 pounds, with a variety of fork lengths depending on model and needs. Masts vary, too, depending on height required and whether there are any other hydraulic functions involved (such as tilt).

    Q

How long does the battery last?

You can easily get several years or more of life from a single forklift battery. But to get the most longevity, it’s important to properly maintain the battery. That includes regular cleaning, care, and maintenance, a proper charging regimen, and optimum temperature adjustment.

Neglecting any of these factors will decrease the life of your forklift battery, sometimes by as much as 50%, so make sure you are following proper battery care.

    Q

    What is the life expectancy?

To get the most out of your forklift investment, you want to ensure a long life with minimum downtime. The best way to do this is to take good care of it, and ensure your operators do, too. Forklifts can last thousands of operator hours when maintained properly and failing to take the proper care is a great way to drastically shorten their life expectancy. A planned maintenance program from G&W is an easy solution for regular, routine maintenance of your forklift fleet.

    Q

How often does my forklift need maintenance?

Daily inspections of your forklift are important for keeping tabs on its performance, but for optimum efficiency, it’s important to implement a schedule of service. This keeps your forklift working at peak capacity, reducing downtime and keeping all parts in good working order. At G&W, we can help you maintain your forklifts with scheduled service. We also provide access 24/7 to our parts store, so any needed repairs can happen quickly.

    Q

What attachments can I add to my forklift?

Part of maximizing your materials handling solutions is the strategic use of forklift attachments and accessories. In our online catalog, you’ll find a wide range of attachments, perfect for your business’ products and processes. From grips to containers to hoppers, we’ll help you move, access, pick, and place everything you need. Keep your employees safe with add-on safety lights and beacons, or customize your forklifts with extensions, backrests, and guards. We have everything you need for the perfect solution.
